Other financial aid is added to Pell Grants. This form of financial aid does not have to be repaid.

Once a student has completed their FAFSA Application, the first thing a school will determine is if he or she is eligible for
Pell Grant.
Federal Pell Grant provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate and certain post baccalaureate students. The idea here is to promote access to post secondary education. About 5,400 institutions participates in the program. |

Since this is the heart of financial aid the way to apply is to submit a FAFSA Application. Both Pell Grants and FAFSA
application were designed around each.
These grants are awarded usually only to undergraduate students who do not have a bachelor's or a professional degree. Very rarely there grants are given to students enrolled in a
post-baccalaureate teacher certification program.
The information a student and his or her family provide on the FAFSA is used to calculate the Expected Family Contribution or
EFC. The EFC determines whether the student is eligible for a Pell Grant.
Undergraduate and vocational students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in participating schools may apply.
The maximum one can be awarded is: $5,350. Grant amounts depend on:
Student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
Cost Of Attendance
Student's Enrollment Status
Whether The Student Attends For A Full Academic Year Or Less
Financial need is determined by the U.S. Department of Education using a standard formula, established by Congress, to evaluate the financial information reported on the
FAFSA Application and to determine the family EFC. Students may not receive Federal Pell Grant funds from more than one school
at a time.
